Long indexing / No visibility Google News

I don’t know if i am in the right place, because, I think it’s not (just) a Rank Map problem. I come to you for two relatively related problem: a slowness of indexing but most importantly, a lack of visibility on Google News.

First, let me situate the context:

• We had already a problem in march (but NOT about Google News, for the website in generally, probably for few things, between the March Core Update, plugin…)
• French media (mainly gaming news)
• WordPress 5.2.3
• Major plugin : Rank Math / WP Rocket
• Sitemap : https://www.actugaming.net/sitemap_index.xml
• The site have an AMP version (for all articles like review, news…)
• Don’t worry about the mobile speed displayed on Google pagespeed : (1. We do few tests like cache plugins etc… impact the score and 2. habitually, the site is fluid for its size)

• No major errors, no penalties on Search Console

So, since March, we are indexed again (in Google Search), but it takes time. When we published articles, its come only few hours later on Google. The problem extends randomly to positioning. For example, we were ranked in top 5 on a request, 5 days later, we went to the 50th position, without significant change – or change on the side of competition.

This fall is a first important thing. If you have any clue, please, tell me.

But, now, the most important – and another problem : Google News. As a media, visibility on Google News is a priority for us – you know, the most important. Last year, we were still regularly put in front and it was a good part of our traffic.
Since, visits from Google News have dropped and indexing of articles takes more and more time. Worse still, we are never in the box “Featured” (In the top in english ?). This one :



So, I know that 1. yes, Google selects the most relevant articles 2. the fatest 3. and a little random way. But we have been tracking our articles for many month (so +1000) and none appeared on the front page. Yes, none.

And that, no matter the subject : A very competitive keyword, low competitive, when we are the first, or with the most content. So, the question is total. Knowing that we find there sites ranked better… and really less than us. Like an impression that something is wrong.

We respect all the criteria, URL, author, categories, the number of articles published, content, linking, all.

Do you have any clue ? That’s really important for us.
