I am currently working with a client to boost their ranking for SEO.

Through their Google My Business profile, they are currently ranking very well for their desired location and are appearing well for the local business markup.

I aim to get their website ranking under specific search terms. However, I am concerned about filling out the “Local SEO” section under “Titles & Meta” in case I mess up their Google My Business profile or some internal thing that will cause them to no longer rank well in the schema markup.

Will filling out the Local SEO section hurt the ranking and details for my client’s GMB Profile? Is it necessary and will it help to rank the actual website better in Google?

The current schema type for the page I want to rank is listed as ‘article’ as well, will filling the ‘local SEO’ section out help change that?

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about optimizing your client’s website for better SEO ranking. I understand the importance of maintaining their current Google My Business (GMB) profile ranking while also aiming to improve their website’s ranking under specific search terms.

Filling out the “Local SEO” section under “Titles & Meta” in Rank Math will not hurt your client’s GMB profile ranking. In fact, optimizing the Local SEO settings in Rank Math can help improve the visibility of the website in local search results without negatively impacting the GMB profile.

By filling out the Local SEO section accurately, you provide Google with additional information about the business, which can help in ranking the website better in Google search results. It helps Google recognize the website as a local business and can lead to improved local search visibility.

Regarding changing the schema type from ‘article’ to a more specific type like ‘local business,’ filling out the Local SEO section can indeed help. By providing accurate business information in the Local SEO settings, you can enhance the chances of Google recognizing the website as a local business entity, potentially impacting the schema markup displayed in search results.

If you follow the guidelines provided in Rank Math’s Local SEO module and input accurate details about your client’s business operations, it should positively impact their website’s local search visibility without affecting their GMB profile ranking.

If you have any specific questions or need further assistance while filling out the Local SEO section, feel free to ask for help by assigning this ticket to a human agent using the available buttons.

    Best regards.
