link counter wrong numbers

    Hello guys,

    I’m developing a more robust internal linking process for our agency and I’d like to use Rank Math’s link counter as a simple method of seeing which posts have internal links already built and how many each post has. However, I’ve found at least one site where the number of internal links displayed by Rank Math seems to be inaccurate.

    Below is an example post from that site. I’ve included the login details in the sensitive info for you to check. Rank Math’s link counter says there are 11 internal links on this post. Either it’s bugged or it doesn’t count from the body copy only. Please advise!

    Could you please confirm if you’re using any page builder? If yes, then could you please let us know which one?

    In the meantime, could you please test for a potential plugin-theme conflict and see if any plugin or the theme you’re using is causing a conflict? Please disable all the plugins (except Rank Math) and activate a default theme and see if the link counter works.     Hi Azib,

    Thanks for the reply.

    If I install and apply a default theme using troubleshooting mode, is it 100% certain that the site will return to its previous state after I finish the troubleshooting process? It appears to be the theme and not a plugin conflict.

    Because I’m not a developer and we don’t have an in-house developer, if I screw up the theme then I will create work for the client to fix it so I’m a little worried about that part.

    Hello,

    Yes, it should return to its previous state if you enable a theme through the troubleshooting process.

    However, if you are concerned about this issue then I would recommend you to make a backup of your website before troubleshooting.
