Line before website name in SERPS

    Hi,

I noticed before my site name in the SERPS there is a verticle line. I do have a verticle line separator character set in my settings. However, there is no other word on the same line to be separated.

I’ve checked other sites in the SERPS, and only mine has the line.

I’ve added an image in the sensitive data box.

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Please edit your homepage and edit the title manually and make sure there’s no %sep% variable in your SEO Title. You may use %sitename% variable only on your homepage.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Thanks for that. I’ve done what you suggested, so hopefully, that will fix it. Will it take a little while for the changes to appear in the SERPs?

    Hello,

Yes, it takes some time for Google to recrawl the site and see the changes you have made. However, your issue is not related to the SEO title, it is related to the site name. Please also make sure that you have entered the correct name in WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO > Website Name and wait for Google to crawl the site again.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,

I’ve checked, and the website name is displayed correctly using the local SEO box described above. The line is still showing in the SERPs, so maybe it’s a waiting game now for Google to crawl the site.

    Hello,

Yes, we’ll have to wait until Google recrawls the page and update the meta fields.

    Hi,

Just to update you. It’s been a couple of weeks now and the line is still showing in the SERPs. Would it usually be gone by now?

    Thanks

    Hello,

I ran the query in Google using site query site:yourdomain.com and the “vertical line” separator is not showing. So, it means Google is updating the results. Having said that, we never know by when it will be updated completely. It may take weeks or sometime months to get updated.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you
