Keyword Will Not Save

  • I have been using RankMath for about a year and love it. Yesterday, I posted a blog, went back in today only to see that there is no keyword or snippet. I have re-entered it and updated it repeatedly but it will not save. I haven’t changed anything since I posted a blog last week and it is fine.

    Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

    To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:

    Please let us know if you find the culprit.

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Did all that and here is the message I get in Site Health:

    Background updates ensure that WordPress can auto-update if a security update is released for the version you are currently using.

    Error The WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE constant is defined and enabled.
    Passed No version control systems were detected.
    Passed Your installation of WordPress doesn’t require FTP credentials to perform updates.
    Passed All of your WordPress files are writable.
    Error WordPress security and maintenance releases are blocked by define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, false );.

    It also says I don’t have a default Theme installed but I have used the same theme for quite some time and have not changed it and it is up to date. I use Astra.

    Should I uninstall and re-install RankMath? No matter what I disable, the keyword and snippet will not stay in the post. And, my theme is not in conflict.

    Would someone please answer me????? I really want to continue to use Rank Math but can’t if I don’t get some answer as to why I can no longer save the keyword and snippet.

    Please give me an answer.

    I have sent 3 replies and gotten no response. I did everything the link said to do and the problem is not resolved. I really need an answer and this is my fourth try at getting one. I want to continue to use RankMath but can’t if you won’t help me resolve whatever is going on.

    I deleted and re-installed RankMath and it still doesn’t work. I am going to deactivate it and go to Yoast since none of you seem to feel this is important. I would really appreciate an answer and I think 24 hours is more than enough time for someone to have responded to me. I love you app when it works but your customer service is certainly lacking. I also posted on your Facebook page because I was told there was a good response time there but haven’t heard a word on Facebook either. I’m very, very sorry to go to Yoast but…..

    I can’t access the plugins or the posts/pages to try and replicate the issue. Please elevate the access to admin preferably, you can use the plugin suggested in my previous reply to monitor changes, if any, that will be made to your site.

    Since you are also currently using Yoast, let us know in your follow up if we can deactivate temporarily while activating Rank math.

    I have changed your access to Administrator and Yes, you can temporarily deactivate Yoast.

    I checked your site and this was reported in the console: /wp-json/wp/v2/users/me?_locale=user:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 ()

    This usually happens if Rank Math is not being able to call the WordPress REST API on your website (it’s blocked). Since you are not using any Security plugin that may be causing this, please get in touch with your host and check if they are blocking these requests. You should also ensure your ip is whitelisted if they have any security setup.

    My webhost changed all the settings and RankMath still will not work. I also deactivated Mod Security in case it was causing the problem but that didn’t help either. They suggested I now come back to you.

    We see that you are using Yoast now and if you wish to switch back to Rank Math, please share your FTP logins as well so our dev. team can thoroughly check this issue and offer a solution if it isn’t something that needs to be done by your web host.

    Is an FTP Login the username and password I use to log in to my web host? I use NameHero so I can give you that login or create a new one. I just need to know exactly what it is. I would like to go back to RankMath once it is working.

    You can share your web host access, we can get to FTP through there. You can also get in touch with your host to guide you in creating FTP access. Please ensure to allow write access to the FTP if you create one as we may need to edit and test some plugin files.
