Since the last update, we count the secondary focus keywords towards the keyword density and that might be why you are seeing a higher number there.

Please check if the primary, as well as the secondary focus keywords, combined, is appearing the number of times displayed in the Keyword Density test.

The plugin adds all of the 5 keywords. Before the density was individual for each keyword. So I will be obliged to leave only 1 keyword. It got really bad.

Thanks for getting back. Sorry for the delay and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
The keyword density test now takes all the variations of the focus keyword into account so you can also type in plural forms, synonyms, LSIs, etc. To most of the SEOs – this is a huge improvement over the previous method as we would only check for exact matches.
Being said that, I have forwarded your request to our devs team. If you want to see the keyword density percentage for only your main focus keyword then you will have to roll back to the previous version of Rank Math from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Version Control, until our devs consider a workaround for this.
