JSON-LD & Schema & FAQ Schema

    Hi there,

I am a bit of a newbie so this is probably got straightforward!

In terms of the schema that Rank Math uses, I assume that it adopts JSON-LD?

With the FAQ Schema, can that be done from inside of Rank Math/within the Elementor SEO tab for RM?

Are you able to add FAQ schema on top of say, a services or product schema that already exists on a certain page (if so, can that be done from within RM)?

Is Local Business schema (in Structured Data Markup Helper) the same as Services Schema in RM?

I understand the structured data testing tool is being retired and replaced with Rich Results Test – I noticed when I ran the same URL through the SDTT it showed both Local Business & Service as separate Schema’s but when ran it through the Rich Results Test that it only brought up Local Business. Just a bit confused as to how you go about checking Service Schema going forward if not showing in the RRT.

Sorry, very long-winded but just trying to clear up the confusion.

    Cheers

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Let’s answer all the questions, one by one:

In terms of the schema that Rank Math uses, I assume that it adopts JSON-LD?

    Yes, it does.

With the FAQ Schema, can that be done from inside of Rank Math/within the Elementor SEO tab for RM?

No, it has to be done using the Gutenberg block editor, although you can also do it in Elementor, I attach the guide to achieve it:

Adding a FAQ block to an Elementor page is not as straightforward as it could be (due to the limitations of not allowing the use of Gutenberg blocks inside Elementor), but, there’s a workaround.

Here’s a screencast showing the process:
    https://i.rankmath.com/DefBHH

When someone switches to the Block/Gutenberg Editor, adds an FAQ Block, and goes back to the Elementor – the FAQ block is going to be removed but only from the frontend. The code remains intact in the source code. One can add the HTML of the questions and answers again.

With that being said, there are existing feature requests, so I’ve added your vote to our internal suggestions lists. If your suggestions are something that we’re able to introduce, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Are you able to add FAQ schema on top of say, a services or product schema that already exists on a certain page (if so, can that be done from within RM)?

Yes, it is an extra schema, so it can be added inside other schemas.

Is Local Business schema (in Structured Data Markup Helper) the same as Services Schema in RM?

No, Local Business schema is used to define your website as a Local Business, so you can set (in this case, in Rank Math) data like hours the business is open or the location of the business.

Services schema is more about services your business offers (like Web Development, House Cleaning…).

Just a bit confused as to how you go about checking Service Schema going forward if not showing in the RRT.

Well, right now it is a beta tool so we still recommend using the https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool. In the future, once they release it out of beta, we might use the other tool but now better focus on SDTT.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Thanks, Alberto,

Super helpful response which covers everything and all understood.

    Cheers again!

Sorry Alberto, one other question, for a local business which is just a service area business (has an office but not open to public etc), would you recommend using the local business or service schema or both? Can you use both or does it confuse things?

    Hello,

You can use the local business schema for the website and the service schema for the page/post where you talk about that service. At this way, Google will see you have a local business but will also see you offer services there (and will understand which services you have).

    Looking forward to help you.

    Awesome, thanks a lot!

    Hello,

i use the Divi Theme and to add the faq JSON-LD to specific post this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/schema-and-structured-data-for-wp/

It would be amazing to have via rankmath the possibility, to add the faq schema to specific posts, like with the schema plugin, to set the questions / answers or directly paste the json code.

    thx
    best regards
    Sally

    Hello Sally,

We do have an option to add the FAQ schema, here is guide how to: https://rankmath.com/kb/faq-schema-block/

I will however forward the suggestion to directly paste the json code to our dev team for consideration.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
