It´s SEO safe display "editor rating stars" instead of "actual folk ratings" ?

    Rank Math free

Rank Math currently offers the option to add reviews on the schema (services, receipes, etc). So, below the title in the SERP 5 big stars are displayed if you want that way…Im wondering…is not that somenthing false, fake or non-reliable to Googles eyes ? It´s not supposed to be REAL ?

I guess trust and realness is one of the main focus of the search engines nowadays. Please explain me how Google will trust my webpage if i set the field “value” to 5 and “count” to 45 (having no actual reviews in the web).

Or maybe this feature it´s only for the people that have another rating plugin that can collect ratings, and then manually (?) the admin can set this fields. I assume those kind of plugins have the rich snippet feature already supported.

In both cases I don´t understand the feature in Rank Math :-/

  • Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Rank Math will add editor review schema which is different from user reviews. This is added in accordance with the Google guidelines which suggest that a webmaster should show the schema to the users as well as to the bots and thus this reviews is also added on the frontend of your site.
There are also no known penalties from Google in this area and thus you can use this feature as a summary of the rating of your posts from an authors perspective.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thanks for the quick reply Michael.

My forward natural question is…there is somenthing in the code that tells Google that it´s an editor rating and not an user ratings ? I would like to know how the search engines gets notified about it, to valorate future penalties or go safe with that (apparently really cool) feature of Rank Math

    Hi Milan,

    Thanks for the follow up.

Yes Rank Math will add an “Editor’s Rating” title when displaying the rating on the frontend as shown below:
    IMG

I hope this info helps. Thank you.
