Issue with removing query strings and googlebot

    Hello Rankmath

I wanted My search and filter results not to be indexed by google and other search engines so I added the below rule in My robots.txt

    Disallow: /*?*

After that I checked the page in rich tests tool and I get this error-

    https://imgur.com/a/EsDefHH

It seems that google is not able to read the page properly because scripts and styles also have a query string and thus being blocked!

Is there a way around it? Or does it matter if the rich test page is or the google bot is not able to reach the scripts and styles? What would be the correct way to implement this?

    thanks.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You can noindex your search results by heading to Rank math > Titles & Meta > Misc/Other pages and enablethis option.

Hope this helps you. Thank you.
