Is it possible to add a canonical tag to RSS feed?

I wanted to create some syndication blogs for my website. I wanted to implement it with RSS. I noticed that there is an option at RankMath plugin to add text after content.

But, I see it only adds a nofollow tag. For syndicating content, I have to use rel=”canonical” tag. Is it possible to add by using any functions?

    This is my feed.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

You can use WP’s the_content_rss filter to add custom content to RSS. Although, I would not suggest you add a canonical tag to RSS. For canonical to work it must be in the head section of the document and the RSS feed is rendered into the body of the document on another site. Google has been very clear about this.

Here is a Google blog post where they say how they handle canonical tag: https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2013/04/5-common-mistakes-with-relcanonical.html

I hope that helps. Thank you.
