    Hello, on the WordPress / WooCommerce page https://shop.kfz-tucholke.de/ we of course use product categories. We also use a product category widget to create a filter. As a result, there are extremely many internal links on every page.
    Can I set these category links to NoFollow or do you have a better solution so that the crawlers don’t view the high number of internal links negatively?
    A lot of people try a code in the funcions.php, but I couldn’t do that.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math about the high internal linking on your category pages.

    If your website has high internal linking, you can set your category pages to “follow, noindex”. You can also remove sitemaps for category pages that repeat posts that are on other sitemaps.

    To noindex category pages navigate to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Categories and set Category archive robots meta to noindex as shown below:

    You can also go ahead and navigate to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc pages and enable Noindex Search Results, Noindex Paginated Pages and Noindex Archive Subpages as shown below:

    Hello,

    No, You don’t have to do it manually. When the google bot visits your website, it will find the meta tag in the page source and obey it accordingly.

    Hello, that didn’t fix the big problem. I have implemented all the settings. The crawler continues to show me too many internal links.
    Then we have to live with the failure.

    Should I describe the problem again?
    We have hidden a product category widget in the footer and use it to generate a filter in the header on every page.
    This probably means there are so many internal links.

    Hello,

    Since that widget is present in the actual source code of the page the bots will still see all those links.

    If you want to apply a custom filter on each page we recommend switching to a different solution without having to output all the links in the source code, even if they are hidden to the end user.
