Indexing Issues

    Hi,

Many of our site’s URLs (including category pages) are either “discovered not indexed”, or indexed but excluded from sitemap.

I’ve already excluded the sitemap from caching, submitted only the main sitemap but the issue still persists.

This has been happening to other sites we use Rankmath with. Other SEO plugins don’t have these problems. We are very disappointed.

    Please help us out.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

After inspecting your website, I have found that you have 7 categories, and they all seem to have “index” & “follow” inside the source code. that means they are indexable.
If we talk about the sitemap file, I can clearly see those 7 URLs are mentioned inside the category-sitemap.xml (Please see the screenshot inside the sensitive area section).

There must be an issue with your browser cache, try to use a different web browser.

If you have more categories and they are not showing inside the sitemap, Please let us know.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Sorry, I should have explicitly mentioned that these issues are in Google Search Console. While opening the sitemap does show that all the URL are included in the sitemap, GSC paints a different picture altogether.

    Hello,

In the Google SERPs, I can see 5 out 7 categories are indexed and it seem like you have recently pushed your sitemap to Google. The “Discovered currently not indexed” error indicates that Google knows about these URLs, but they haven’t crawled (and therefore indexed) them yet in the SERPs

Here is what google says about the “Discovered currently not indexed” error:
The page was found by Google, but not crawled yet. Typically, Google wanted to crawl the URL but this was expected to overload the site; therefore Google rescheduled the crawl. This is why the last crawl date is empty on the report.

You should wait for few days, Google will index the URLs soon.

And about the “Excluded” error :
The page is not indexed, but we think that was your intention. (For example, you might have deliberately excluded it by a noindex directive, or it might be a duplicate of a canonical page that we’ve already indexed on your site.)

Google must have seen the old “noindex” tag inside your category pages, As I can see those URLs are now indexable, Soon Google will show them inside the SERPs.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Okay let’s see how this pans out.

I had created another ticket with the same issue on one of our sites many weeks ago. Apparently certain URLs are still either being displayed as “discovered not indexed” or excluded from sitemap. We were given the same assurance back then too. Please don’t say that it is up to GSC to honour these requests.

Some of our sites are using plugins from your major competitor. We have never faced these indexing issues with them. Never.

I have updated another problematic site’s name.

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us.

I checked your category pages and 6 out of 7 is now indexed on Google search page and 7 of these pages are clearly appearing on the Sitemap. If the error is still present on your GSC, please remove all your existing sitemap and resubmit only the primary sitemap (https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml) and see if the error is still there.

For more guides about this issue, you may also refer to our KB page here: https://rankmath.com/kb/indexed-not-submitted-in-sitemap/

As for the other site you shared, could you also share the affected URL so we can further investigate it as well?

We are looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I have only submitted the main sitemap. Maybe the indexing will take some time. Or should I remove it and submit again for faster/complete indexing?

Anyway, I have updated the name of the other site.

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Please make sure that you remove the pre-existing sitemap and then submit the latest one. On your other site, I have checked the categories present in your sitemap and they are only two as shown: https://i.rankmath.com/SrAy6g

Both of these categories do seem to already been indexed by Google as shown here: https://i.rankmath.com/R6FxX9

It is possible that Google is seeing another version of your site. Seems like you are using the non-www version yet the www still works see here: view-source:https://www.watchraver.com/sitemap_index.xml

You may need to follow the instructions we have created here: https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
    Thank you.
