Hi, some of my WordPress pages are failing to instant index using the RankMath plugin. This was fine up until around 2 weeks ago, but now I am getting the ‘429’ error so my pages are not indexing.

Could you please advised how I can fix this?

    Thanks

    Kind regards,
    Jake

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing issues with instant indexing using the Rank Math plugin and encountering a ‘429’ error preventing your pages from indexing. The ‘429’ error indicates that there have been too many requests sent to the IndexNow API within a short period.

To fix this issue, you should stop submitting your URLs to the IndexNow API for a while. Additionally, you need to disable the automatic submission feature that sends your URLs every time you create, update, or delete a post. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Instant Indexing → Settings from your WordPress dashboard.
    2. In the Auto-Submit Post Types setting, click the Select / Deselect All button until the Posts, Media, and Pages options are unchecked.

Deselect auto-submission in the Instant Indexing Settings

After deselecting auto-submission, you should wait for some time before submitting URLs again. If the issue persists, it might be due to another site on your server using up the quota assigned to your shared IP address. In such cases, you may need to wait it out or contact your hosting provider for assistance.

I hope this helps you resolve the ‘429’ error and get your pages indexed successfully. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to our dedicated support team here. We are available 24/7, 365 days a year to help you.

    Kind regards,

How to Fix 429 Error with IndexNow API » Rank Math

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

When you see a 429 error it means that the IP address of your website is sending too many requests to the API.

Also, that error suggests that you are exhausting the quota limit for the number of publishing requests per day.

Can you please confirm if you have selected the Auto-Submit Post Types? If yes, the post will be automatically sent to the IndexNow API when a post is published, updated, or trashed.

However, if you have other websites on the same server or are on shared hosting, There’s a possibility that other websites may be using up the quota.

For some initial troubleshooting, you can change the API key and clear your website cache. Then wait for a few hours and try submitting another URL again.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
