i have compared with a tool my website to other competitors who rank in the 1st page og google for the given kw viking jewelry. One thing that came up immediately is the numbered of indexed urls where my website ha sonly 339 indexed urls those competiors are in the 6k range. Am i doing something wrong? in rank math i have excluded product tag because if i can recall you guys said it was not necessary. i’m not an expert but i think the more urls you have indexed the better chances to have traffic. I need someone to tell me how exactly i have to set up rank math in thi sspecific field. After one year i have the same traffic 10 visitors a month. I think that rank math if not set properly can cause more damage than help.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with your website indexing issues.

I checked your website and found that it does not have as many URL as the competitors listed in your last reply. You will need a lot more products and posts to reach the numbers displayed by your competitors.

To improve your website, Please check your Google search console index coverage report and make changes based on the advice in the report.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

should I index product tag or not?

    Hello,

There is no definitive answer to that question as it depends on how you wish to present the contents of your website to the users and how you’ve organized the contents in your categories and tags.

However, usually, it is not recommended to index Product tags as they can have duplicate and thin content and can do more harm than good. Also, it is recommended to index only a single archive type, meaning, if you’re indexing product categories, you can avoid indexing product tags.

i think the more urls you have indexed the better chances to have traffic.

This is not always true. It is not important to have more indexed URLs than to have less but high-ranking URLs as they will actually get you the traffic.

More indexed URLs having duplicate content (which is usually the case in tags and archive pages) would only consume your crawl budget and can result in important pages of the website getting left from being crawled.

Hence, you should index only a single archive type. We recommend indexing Categories and not Tags.

As for traffic, organic traffic on a website highly depends on the rankings of the website, and ranking on Google depends on many factors. Here are some of the factors Google considers when ranking you: https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors

Rank Math can help you take the on-page optimization of the website to a whole new level, which is one of the most important ranking factors.

Along with working on the on-page optimizations, we suggest you also work on the points mentioned in the above article and keep acquiring high-quality backlinks to increase your chances of getting ranked higher and in turn attract more traffic: https://backlinko.com/high-quality-backlinks

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
