    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with the “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap” issue on your website”

The “indexed, not submitted in sitemap” message means that Google indexed your page but did not crawl it through the sitemap. instead, they crawled the page through other means such as the URL structure. The issue arises from the fact that the URL is encoded as html special characters in the sitemap which looks different than the actual Hebrew characters characters in on the URL.

After Google has crawled and indexed the URL, it checks for the actual Hebrew URL in the sitemap and does not find it even though it is there as special characters. So the page is registered as ‘indexed, not submitted in sitemap’. You can safely ignore the message.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

thank you very much for your explanation.

the search console is additionally reports that the URL is:
may be known from other written sources that the sites are currently reporting.

So I guess that means the search console may not be using the sitemap at all to locate my new posts?
    Correct me if I’m wrong.

    Hello,

As mentioned by my colleague, Indexed, Not Submitted in Sitemap is not an issue. It only means that Google has already indexed the URL but not through the sitemap.

Google may be crawling and indexing the posts through other means like the internal links on your website and not through the sitemaps, as a result, the crawl budget for your website is exhausted, and Google is unable to discover the URLs through your sitemap.

As long as the posts/pages are getting crawled and indexed, thereโ€™s nothing to be worried about.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you.

    thank you for your answer.
so the issue is that Google crawling and indexing the posts through other sources and not through the sitemaps.
is there any way to fix it?
    maybe using xml:lang?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, it is completely up to Google how they want to crawl the website and they cannot be forced to crawl the website a specific way.

Sitemaps are merely a resource for crawling the website efficiently, but there are many other ways using which Google can crawl a website like internal links. Again, as long as the posts/pages are getting crawled and indexed, thereโ€™s nothing to be worried about.

With that said, if you wish to perform some troubleshooting, you can follow this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/indexed-not-submitted-in-sitemap/

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    thanks!
