Incorrect schema given by RankMath

One of my blog posts shows its schema as ‘Article’ by default because of which it is not getting indexed in the Search Console. How can I change its schema to ‘BlogPosting’? Also, how do I make sure that all my future posts have schema as ‘BlogPosting’ by default?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

You need to go to Dashboard > Titles & Meta > Posts > Schema Type > From there you can change the Schema Type as per your requirement so that it’ll be applied to all future posts.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

I had checked this before but the Schema Type option doesn’t show BlogPosting or anything related to blog post. Which is the option that I should select? (It shows Article by default.)

    Hello,

With the Article Schema itself, you can select Blog Post Schema in between that.

In your screenshot, you can see under the Article Type, it is selected Blog Post.

    That’ll cover your requirement.

    Thank you.

That is what even I thought and that is the default setting by default. I didn’t change anything.

But as I mentioned before, one of my blog posts still shows its schema as Article instead of BlogPosting because of which it is not getting indexed on Google. How can I change its Schema to BlogPosting?

    Hello,

Rank Math does not have any Blog Posting Schema except than that at the moment.

We are adding a note to our development team to improve this in the coming days.

    Thank you.

All my other blog posts are having ‘BlogPosting’ schema by default. Please check the attached screenshot. These posts are getting indexed on Google as well.

What do I do with the blog post that shows its schema as Article (and not getting indexed on Google)? I don’t want my efforts to go waste.

    Hello,

It could be an issue with only the display in the backend. Can you please check if the actual post URL has the correct Schema in it? You can share the URL if you would like us to check.

I have attached the URL. Please check for any issues from your end.

I don’t think it is a display issue because as I mentioned before when I checked for the ‘Submitted and Indexed’ pages in my Search Console, only this particular URL was not shown there. The remaining pages, which were showing their schema as ‘BlogPosting’ in the backend, were present in the ‘Submitted and Indexed’ pages of my Search Console.

So there is definitely some issue with this URL which is showing its Schema as ‘Article’ in the backend.

    Hello,

I have checked it with the official Google tool but it says the Schema is Article > Blog Posting (as you can see in the link I shared in the Sensitive Data section).

    Looking forward to help you.
