incorrect meta tag

    Just installed Rankmath and followed instructions to link my google account. I followed the link to the Search Console Verification Page, copied the Meta Tag, pasted it into the Webmaster tools Google Search Console box and Saved Changes.

    I then went back to the Search Console Verification page and clicked Verify, but I get the error …
    Verification failed for https://southerndiggerservices.co.uk/ using the Meta tag method (less than a minute ago). Your meta tag is incorrect. Are you using a meta tag for a different site or user account?
    If I click on “Show Found Meta tag it shows a completely different content string.

    Before installing Rank Math I did install and activate Yoast, but didn’t go through the setup process. I deactivated and removed Yoast before installing Rank Math.

    I also tried to go to Google security checkup and remove the third party access for Rank Math. The option was there. If I click on recent security it says Rank Math was given account access yesterday, so it must have been successful once. The problem started this morning when I was following a video and decided just to validate the the Tag again from the Search Console Verification page and it failed.

    I then went to the Rank Math general setting, Reset Options and tried to link again. I am still getting the same result.

    Sorry – solved it. When I was clicking on the link to get and verify the tag, I was ending up in a different google profile.
