Images in Sitemaps

#500331
  • Hello,

You do have an option in Sitemap Settings General Tab that says when set on that it would Include reference to images from the post content in sitemaps. This helps search engines index the important images on your pages. and another to Include Featured Images when i set the first alone i get images as 0 and when i enable the second i get only 1 in the sitemap under images.
I think the first one should get all images in the post content as mentioned but it doesn’t !

Please note that i use classic editor and not block editor but i believe that the PHP script should collect all images sources from <img tag.

    Please advise
    Thanks

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Can you please share the affected post/page URL with us so we can further check it on our end?

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

I had to add custom fields to include the images in 2 pages, but it should be automatic
and if you check /clinic-galley/ you will see that it’s full of images that were not discovered, only the featured image

    Thanks

    Hello,

I checked your example page, and it looks like you may be using an unsupported gallery plugin or page builder plugin. We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

I’m using Betheme and it’s a shame that you don’t support it since it’s even bigger and better than the ones you’re currently supporting. this has caused me many issues and might force me to change SEO plugin even though i rather use rank math and rank math pro for future projects.
You can install Betheme and test and add support for it !

almost all built-in function of Betheme is not supported by your plugin “table of contents, side-slide and now images and galleries”

    Hello,

Betheme is actually supported by our plugin as you can see in our compatibility page here: https://rankmath.com/compatibility/betheme/

For us to move forward, we may need to check the issue closely in your admin dashboard. Please share your WordPress login in the sensitive data section so we can check further.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

Apparently this function has not been tested 🙂

Anyway it’s really difficult for me to share these info because i need to disable http password, 2FA and country blocking for some time until you check the issue and i’m getting too many attacks and hacking attempts and i won’t be able to leave the website without extra protection for a long time.
    I hope you understand.

but it maybe caused by litespeed cache plugin since it adds srcset function and lazyload images and iframes and it creates a webp version of images and replace it in the code.

    I hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hello,

In this case, you may also conduct a plugin conflict test if the LiteSpeed plugin is indeed one of the roots of the issue. You may refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello,
You really should fix this issue, my page-sitemap.xml and portfolio-sitemap.xml are only showing the counts of images as 1 for each post which is wrong.
    I’m using:
    1- litespeed enterprise server
    2- litespeed cache plugin
    3- Betheme

your plugin detected the images with a workaround only which is that i created a custom field for each image url and i added them in the custom field option in your plugin but it’s not a solid solution and i have removed it, and now only 1 image is getting indexed from each post and this is really bad and a bug in your plugin.

you can check the sensitive data section for the server details

    Thanks

I have tested with the troubleshooting mode and with only rankmath plugin enabled and the themes and it’s still showing 1 image in the sitemap
    sitemap images

    Hello,

Betheme has already integrated our content analysis API into their theme. https://rankmath.com/compatibility/betheme/

However, since the integration is done by them, they will have to modify it so our plugin can detect images for all of their modules. You can get in touch with their support and inform them about this so they can modify and make all their image-related modules compatible with our plugin.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

This seems to be a generic problem. I have the same issue while my site is very different from GuestofHonor: I don’t use LiteSpeed, I have the Kadence theme and the block editor. The XML Sitemap generated by Rank Math only picks up the featured images in almost all cases. So, 99% of the pages have 1 image according to Rank Math, but there are many more.

    I have Rank Math 1.0.115 + Pro 3.0.36.

In my opinion, Rank Math should examine the final HTML output of posts and look for images in there. There are so many ways to add images to posts; I don’t see another way. In our case we have custom shortcodes adding images too, for example. They can easily be found in the HTML though.

I will disable the “Images in Sitemaps” feature and let search engines discover them themselves. I hope you can fix this in a next release.

    Hello @arno-6289,

Thank you for reaching out to us and bringing your concern to our attention.

Examining the final HTML output requires a heavy process from our end which may also cause performance issues on the frontend. That is why our plugin only checks the contents of the page’s the_content and since these page builders have their own way of storing the image data in the content, our Content Analysis API must be applied from their end.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
