Image SEO

    Rank Math free

Hi, i’m currently using the Free Version of RankMath on my Elementor in WordPress and recently, it’s suddenly changed all my Title Images to %title% %count(title)%, which I do not want. I note that in the Image SEO selection, it says that only for missing Title Attributes/missing Alt Titles will it add these in.

Previously, I would fill up the Alt Text section in WordPress, and it would appear on the front end when my mouse hovers over my image. I’m not sure what changed recently but if you could assist me in reverting back to my page’s original state, it would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please try to temporarily disable Rank Math’s SEO Image module and see if the issue persists?

If not, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hi. I tried disabling it but then it results in no title image popping up on the front end. I’ve added the temporary login link to our site. Do let me know if there are any updates. Thank you

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

I have changed the Image SEO > Title attribute format to %title% here https://i.rankmath.com/zjcQ7H

Kindly verify this on your end and if you are still having issues, please let us know. We are here to assist.

To add on, I’ve been looking through some of the Self-help on Rank Math and I noticed there was this option of %imagealt% which sounds like what i’m looking for but I’m also not sure if that’s the solution, neither do I have it in my rank math so i’m assuming it might be a paid option. Just fyi.

    Hi there,

Firstly, thank you for helping out. However, what we wanted to achieve was not the title of the post/page but instead we wanted the alt text for the individual images. I’m not sure if i’m using the same jargon that’s understood but i’ve attached two links to screenshots.

In number 1, the alt text for the featured image is entered. The copy for this alt image is BMG Global, Branded Sales Platform.

In number 2, this is the from the viewer end. When moused over, it just shows the title: Branded Sales Platform

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

If you inspect the source code of the picture, you will see that the ALT text is working fine (see the screenshot I have shared inside the sensitive data section), and for title appearing when hovering, the picture is showing the %title% attribute, and that is your post title.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hi.

Yes I understand that as of now, the the picture is showing the %title% attribute, and I understand that that is my post title. What I’m trying to do, is to not show the post title, but instead show the alt text when I hover my mouse across the screen, and i’m looking for a solution to do that.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us and we deeply apologize for the unexpected delays.

Could you please confirm if you like to show the content of the alt instead of the title when you hover your mouse on the image?

If so, you may use this variable %imagealt% but this is only available for the PRO version. You may refer more here: https://rankmath.com/kb/image-seo/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi,

Yes I would like to have the alt text when hovering across the image. I’m not sure why my site could show alt text in the past but it suddenly stopped working. So does this mean that RankMath Pro is the only solution in this?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us.

I’m not sure why my site could show alt text in the past but it suddenly stopped working.

Since Rank Math Free doesn’t offer that type of function, we can’t provide an answer at this point. It could be that another plugin or your theme is causing this functionality before.

Yes, using the %imagealt% variable can only be used by PRO users. If you wish to use that, you may need to subscribe.

    Hope that helps you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
