    Hi,

When i upload a new image in the media library it is automatically set to no index, even though robots meta no image index is deselected. See the screencast for visual example.

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with the images being automatically set to noindex even though the robots meta no image index is deselected. Thank you for sharing the screencast for a visual example.

Based on the information provided, it seems like there might be a configuration issue causing this behavior. To resolve this matter, I recommend checking the settings related to Media Robots Meta in Rank Math.

You can navigate to Rank Math SEO → Titles and Meta → Media and ensure that the default Robots Meta settings are correctly configured. If you have selected the custom option, review the specific settings for the Robots Meta for your media to ensure that the directives are set as intended.

If the issue persists after verifying the settings, please assign this ticket to a human agent using the available buttons for further assistance.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you.

    Kind regards,

I believe you cannot argue with a robot but there’s no “media” tab as you suggest: “You can navigate to Rank Math SEO → Titles and Meta → Media”

Do you have a human master who can help me?

    Hello,

In your screencast, you are viewing the default meta robots of your post types, and t seems like you’re viewing the attachment page of your images.

When you upload a media file to the WordPress Media Library, WordPress creates a separate media attachment page for each individual file, and having the attachment pages as “noindex” or redirecting to the parent page is actually the preferred method to handle those and we mention the same here: https://rankmath.com/kb/should-you-redirect-attachments/

In essence, this means that there’s nothing to worry about the attachment pages as the images from the website can and will still be indexed, it’s just the attachment pages, which don’t hold any SEO value, that will not get indexed.

However, if you still want to index your attachment pages then you can set them to index from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Title & Meta > Post Types: Attachments > Media Robots Meta: https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/#media-robots-meta

    Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply. Makes sense now.

There are some image attachment pages that i’ve set to index manually. IfI want to set them back to noindex, is there a way to do that all at once, instead of having to do that manually per media attachment page?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

Unfortunately, if you have set them manually to index while editing your attachments, then you may need to edit them again individually.

Alternatively, you can redirect your attachment pages by following the steps in this link:

    Looking forward to helping you.
