I want to replace sitemap with sitemap of RankMath plugin, and have problem!

    I used to use Google XML Sitemaps in my wordpress website, now I installed RankMath plugin and want to use its sitemaps, I setup RankMath properly and link it to google search console, but I have an important question :

    When I go to google search console I found sitemap like this : /sitemap.xml
    which is the sitemap of Google XML Sitemaps, which I added before from Google XML Sitemaps plugin .
    and on the other hand I see sitemaps of RankMath like this /sitemap_index.xml

    Now should I delete older sitemap /sitemap.xml , from google search console and add /sitemap_index.xml instead of it ? is that right ? and is it affecting my site ranking in google ?
    Or should I keep and do not add sitemaps of RankMath ?
    Or should I add sitemaps of RankMath, and keep the older one ?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    You should delete the previous sitemap URL since it is no longer live after deactivating Google XML sitemaps.
    After submitting the Rank Math sitemap, please give this a couple of days to fetch the URLs and you will be all set.

    Another question : should I add all sitemaps for posts, pages, and media … like :
    post-sitemap.xml
    category-sitemap.xml
    post_tag-sitemap.xml
    page-sitemap.xml

    Or only the main sitemap : sitemap_index.xml
    ?
