I need to use “rel canonical” only, not 301

Is there a way to simply use “rel canonical” and NOT 301

I think by default RankMath is doing 301, which really doesn’t make a lot of SEO sense

I would appreciate your support on this one!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I am not sure to fully understand your question since Rank Math already adds the canonical tag on every post you publish. Could you give us more details about what do you mean?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Alberto,

I am trying to ask if it’s possible to have only “rel canonical”, since at the moment if enter a URL with forward slash “/” at the end, it will do a 301 Redirect to the same URL with forward slash as shown on the image.

Can I simply have “rel canonical” only without 301 ?

    Hello,

You can easily change the canonical URL from Rank math meta box under Advanced Tab.

It is likely you have defined your permalink structure with the forward slash in WordrPress > Settings > Permalinks in which case the redirection is done automatically by WordPress. If you don’t wish to have the trailing slash on your URLs you will have to modify your permalink settings.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

That was the issue indeed and I really sorry for wasting your time, but I found the answer I was looking for.

    Thank you so much!
