My site was registered in 2019. Recently I’m facing a problem related to sitemap. I have attached a video where you can see that in indoorshot, when I visit sitemap in google search console there is an option name /sitemap_index.xml.

If I click here, it shows post, page and category’s sitemap, and also I can see index coverage. But in case of fireplacefact /sitemap_index.xml is present but not showing post, pages and category’s sitemap when I click, also I can’t see index coverage.

I have tried several ways to fix this.

    1. Deleted server cache and uninstall cache plugin
    2. Deleted sitemap from search console and Resubmit again
    3. Deactivated Rank Math for 1 day, then reinstalled again.

    Sitll I’m facing this problem.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your fireplacefact site, but it seems that Rank Math is currently deactivated.

Your robots.txt includes a different file for your sitemap, and I’m unable to find Rank Math meta tags in your page’s source code. Could you please confirm?

Currently, the sitemap in your robots.txt is /wp-sitemap.xml, which shows a different sitemap structure from Rank Math.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Sorry for this, Now I activated rank math, can you please check again?

    Hello,

I’ve checked your Rank Math sitemaps, and they are already working fine.

However, your robots.txt seems not updated. Please update the sitemap file instead of /wp-sitemap.xml, please use /sitemap_index.xml like our recommended rules here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/#default-rules

Once done, remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap index only. Then, give Google some time to recrawl your site.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

I can’t find /wp-sitemap.xml in my server. Where I can use this /sitemap_index.xml. can you tell me please?

    Hello,

I’ve added the link in the sensitive data section to see your robots.txt. You can also check this guide on how to edit your robots.txt using Rank Math.

However, it seems that the sitemap line is already /sitemap_index.xml in the file. Please follow the next step from my previous reply above and let us know if the issue still persists.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

I followed your next step, and I attached the two picture in the sensitive data sention. now what should I do?

    Hello,

    I checked the sitemap.

Currently, two variations of the sitemap are returning 200 status:

Only one variation should show 200 and the rest of the URLs should redirect to it.

You can get in touch with your web host and ask them to redirect the sitemap variation to the preferred version.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

    I apologize for the confusion.

The rest of my reply wasn’t sent and is broken.

Kindly refer to my previous reply again.

    Thank you.

    Can you please check again?

    Hello,

It is working fine now. Please remove all previously submitted sitemaps from your GSC account and resubmit your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml) and wait for Google to crawl it.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    still facing this issue.

    Hello,

Can you please try submitting the sub-sitemaps directly to your GSC account and check if Google is able to discover the URLs from them?

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    Are you saying about this?

    /post-sitemap.xml
    /page-sitemap.xml
    /category-sitemap.xml

    Hello,

    Yes, those are the sub-sitemaps.

You can submit the sub-sitemaps directly to the Search Console.

Also, you are seeing Sitemaps NA in the coverage because Google has already indexed the posts but not through the sitemap.

It is possible that Google is crawling your website and indexing the posts through the internal links on your website and not through the sitemap, and as a result, the crawl budget for your website is exhausted and Google is not able to discover the URLs through your sitemap.

There is nothing to worry about as long as the posts/pages are getting crawled and indexed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
