Hreflang tags missing from Google

    Hello,

    I just noticed yesterday that Google Search Console is giving me an error about missing hreflang tags on my website. I have been using Polylang since the page launched more than a year ago and I know that the plugin should create these tags automatically but that doesn’t seem to happen as there is a problem with the Finnish version which gives the following error: “non-self-referencing url in html”.

    I have asked help from Polylang support but haven’t received a reply so far. Would you be able to help me?

    Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    Polylang is not yet compatible with Rank Math. The reason you are having the issue is because translated URL canonical is not similar to the translated page URL. You can check the canonical use this tool to check your canonical URL: https://sitechecker.pro/canonical-url/

    We will be adding compatibility in the coming months.

    Meanwhile, you can check this list for compatible products with Rank Math:

    So, what should I do in this kind of a situation? I have been noticing for a long time that our site ranks nicely in Finnish language but we are hardly getting any international traffic.
