How to set a category URL to a custom URL?
    For example:
    * I have a “news” post category
    * I made a page to show all the news with the URL /best-news/ that ranks on Google
    * There’s a WordPress automatically generated post category page withe URL /news/
    * I made a post template with Elementor with a dynamic link to the post category page (/news/)
    * I set a 301 redirect from the “stupid” category page /news/ to the “smart” category page /best-news/

I should avoid redirects but don’t know how to set the news post category to /best-news/
Can I do that with Rank Math? Or via WordPress?

Thank you for your great plugin. 🙂

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

You can do this with WordPress. To edit WordPress categories, you can head over to Posts> Categories as shown below, then check for news category and change it to best-news.

Hope this helps you. Thank you.

If I do that, when I type the smart URL, the content of the stupid URL is displayed (automatic category page).

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

I have been checking how you have configured the redirect but I don’t quite understand this statement If I do that, when I type the smart URL, the content of the stupid URL is displayed

Could you please clarify on what you would like to show on the redirected page?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Yes, I set a redirect but would rather avoid that.

I want to set the custom URL as the new category url.
However, if I do that from WordPress, when I type the custom URL, I see the default category URL.

    HI Stefano,

    Thanks for the reply.

The redirection is the most recommended method since this will maintain the link juice on the original URL and avoid any 404 errors on pages that were linking to the old page.

I hope this info helps. Thank you.
