How to index specific Search Results Pages?

    Hi,

My website foodiesfeed.com is ranked in Google for the general keywords quite well (such as “food images”, “free food pictures” etc.) but I would like specific Search Results to be indexed as well. Such as “pizza images”, “burger images”, “healthy food” etc.

For example, I’d like to be indexed on this page for this specific term “pizza pictures” https://www.google.com/search?q=pizza+pictures If I understand correctly, all those indexed pages are Search Results.

Can you please navigate me in your WordPress Plugin How can I enable indexing of specific Search Resulsts Pages that I choose? Perhaps with the Instant Indexing tool?

    Kind regards,
    Jakub

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Rank Math support. We’re happy to help you with your query.

Having your web pages rank high in Google’s organic search listings for significant keywords can be quite valuable for boosting site visitors and we have a dedicated blog post on how you can improve your Ranking for Organic Keywords https://rankmath.com/blog/organic-keywords/

Please note that you cannot index search engine result pages. The results in Google search pages are controlled by Google’s algorithm. However, using Rank Math ensures that your website is indexed and available for search engines to display in search engine result pages.

As stated in your example, if you want your website to show in the search result page for the specific term “pizza pictures”, then you’d need to optimize your content around this term/keyword, such that when search engines index the page or your website, you’d be able to rank for the keyword.

To make tracking your ranking on Google easier, you can use the Rank Tracker feature to track your keywords and their position on the Search Engine Result Page. Rank Tracker is a Rank Math PRO feature that has the ability to track the keyword performance of your selected keywords. You can enter the keywords in the Rank tracker, and we will monitor their performance so that you can have a clear picture of which keywords are performing well as compared to the others. Read more about the Rank Tracker here https://rankmath.com/kb/rank-tracker/

You Can Get Google To Crawl Your Website Instantly by using Google’s new indexing API along with Rank Math to ensure that your site is crawled and has the opportunity to rank before other site does, which is extremely important when it comes to time-sensitive, competitive content. https://rankmath.com/blog/google-indexing-api/

Please note that it is up to Google to show your content for the desired keyword when searched. To address this, you would need to optimize your content further with more quality and relevance for the intended keyword.

In the meantime, here are some guides for your reference. They can help you get started with setting up for Local SEO and also with your ranking on Google.

Also note that ranking on Google depends on different factors. Here are some of the factors Google considers when ranking your website.

    1. Your website’s authority
    2. Your content’s quality and how better it is than the other article currently ranking.
    3. How competitive the keyword you are using is.
    4. How many backlinks you have and if they are better than what the other websites ranking for that keyword have.
    5. Your website’s crawlability.
    6. Frequency of new content and content updates.
    7. So much more that there is a dedicated blog post on it by Brian Dean 🙂 https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors

Furthermore, you can use the Rank Tracker feature to track your keywords and their position on the SERP. Read more about the Rank Tracker here https://rankmath.com/kb/rank-tracker/

    I hope that helps.

Well, I was asking how can I configure SEO for my website’s search results page, not Google’s.

    For example this page https://www.foodiesfeed.com/?s=pizza

When I search for “pizza pictures” on Google, most of the indexed results are just stock photos sites’ search results pages and I want my website to rank there too.

Can I configure SEO for search results pages the same way I configure for example blog posts or pages?

    Hello,

Please head over to your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Misc Pages and ensure the option “Noindex Search Results” is disabled:

    Rank Math support

That way, you should be able to index your website’s search pages.

As for optimizing your search result page, we have provided an option to optimize the title as shown below:

The search page on your website is thin content so optimizing it for SEO is very limited, unlike regular posts.

Please note that the keyword “pizza pictures” is highly competitive so you won’t just focus on the indexation and optimization of your search pages but you should mainly focus on optimizing your images on your content for that keyword.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need my assistance with anything else.

    Thank you!
