How to Hide Specific URLs

    Rank Math free

Hi! I have a subscription plugin that generates return pages that are only for people who paid for a subscription.

Rank Math, after its update of two days ago or so, seems to be sharing that page with Google and other search engines.

I looked throughout your interface but I didn’t find the option to hide urls from search engines anywhere.

Since it’s a page generated by a plugin, I can’t just edit it like I would otherwise (I know I can set those properties using Rank Math if it’s a page I create manually on my site). I also can’t change the template’s header, but I can add text and html to the body of the page, if that helps.

Thank you very much for your plugin. I will surely consider upgrading if I can afford it in the future.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

You can add this line to your /robots.txt to block Google from crawling your pages with filter/parameters:

    Disallow: /*?*

You can check this link on how to edit your robots.txt:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

Once done, please give Google some time to recrawl your website to deindex those URLs with filters.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

Thanks. I did that (specifically for that page, but I like your suggestion) this morning, plus I added a request for them to not show that page on search results and I also added a meta tag to the body of the page (can’t edit the header, since it’s created by the plugin).

I wonder what changed in RankMath beta 2 (or 3) days ago that caused that to happen. 😉

I wish you a great week! Stay safe!
