    Hi,

How to assign one post as parent of other post in breadcrumb?
I have a travel website with travel blogs.

For example, post 1 is New York Blog list, shows all blogs links about New York in the site.
post 2 to post 10 are New York travelling blogs.

So for blog 2, I want the breadcrumb shows: Home > Blog 1> Blog 2.
Can I know how to set it?

    thanks.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Our breadcrumbs only have the option to organize the posts in categories and no subpages.

However, you can try to edit the current implementation by modifying the following filter: https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/#change-remove-breadcrumb-items

An idea to use that filter would be to run a query to test if the current page is a subpage and try to get the parent page data to print in the breadcrumbs before the page the user is viewing.

Having said that, this high level of customization falls outside the scope of our support.

Hope this helps solve your issues.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Could you give me more details about “organize the posts in categories”?
I would like to try this.

    thanks.

    Hello,

By ‘organize the posts in categories’, my colleague meant that our breadcrumbs feature can display taxonomies(categories/tags) in the breadcrumbs. You can display the primary category of the post in the trail. For example: Home > Category > Post

If you have subcategories and select a subcategory as the primary category of the post then both the category and subcategory will be added in the breadcrumbs.

You can select which taxonomy you want to display in the breadcrumbs from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Posts > Primary Taxonomy but we don’t support subpages.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

I have updated 3 images together with the message below, can you check?

    Hello,

To add the categories in the breadcrumbs, go to Rank Math > General settings > Breadcrumbs > Enable Show Category(s) option:
    option

Also, make sure that you have selected the Primary Taxonomy in the Titles & Meta settings as mentioned by my colleague previously.

Once done, clear your website cache and check again.

    I hope this helps.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I want to show you the screenshot, but I’m not sure I sent it successfully
So I also send these 4 images as sensitive date here.
    hope you can open it.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

The breadcrumbs on your site are not being added by Rank Math. Your theme is adding the breadcrumbs. Please disable the breadcrumbs from your theme option and follow this guide to apply Rank Math’s breadcrumbs on your site: https://rankmath.com/kb/breadcrumbs/

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

    hi,

    1) the theme I’m using is Traveler theme, it has built in breadcrumb, so I cannot disable breadcrumb in theme option
    2) So I used custom CSS to disable the breadcrumb:
    `#st-content-wrapper .st-breadcrumb {
    display: none;
    }
    3) Now my site still shows the breadcrumb, can you check the breadcrumbs are whether being added by Rank Math?
    4) the problem I reported still exists, the breadcrumb of this post still doesn’t show the category.

can you help me with it?

    thanks.

    Hello,

Yes, the breadcrumbs are still being added by your theme. You can get in touch with your theme’s author and ask them to disable the breadcrumbs on your site. You can also check the Customizer of your theme in Appearance > Customizer to see if there is an option to disable the breadcrumbs or not.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

The screenshots you have provided are not working. Could you please check?

Also, have you already added the code to your theme’s single.php or header.php file? Here’s a link for more information:

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
