How to 410 a folder that contains a lot of images

    Hi,

I recently rebuilt my site and now start to see bunch of 404s especially images that I uploaded previous years. First of all, is it good practice to 410 those images? If yes, how can I set up 410 for a folder that contains a lot of uploaded images? Instead of setting up 410 for an individual image I want to do it for 2017 folder, 2018, and 2019.

I couldn’t find an answer on the help page, please help.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The redirection module works best for paths that exists within the WordPress installation. I can suggest that you add a redirect your .htaccess file to redirect the upload directories like so:

    Redirect 410 /wp-content/uploads/2019
     Redirect 410 /wp-content/uploads/2018

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Thank you, Michael. I added those lines in .htaccess file, will monitor how it turns out.
