How Many sitemaps do I need

    Hi,

A bit confused when it comes to sitemaps. When looking at your tutorial it gives the impression that I need to submit several sitemaps to Google Search Console. One for general, one for pages, one for posts etc. Would this be correct? Furthermore, now that I have moved to Rankmath would you suggest replacing my old index sitemap.
The reason that I am asking this is because when I was inspecting Google Search console I discovered that there are many excluded pages on my site especially – Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag. Would by submitting the correct sitemaps help to resolve this and the other problems showing up on Google Search Console?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    1. A sitemap is an index of all the content on your website, which means you can have a sitemap for pages, posts and even the media on your pages. Rank math automatically creates and submits your sitemaps if they are enabled in your settings. You can change the sitemaps submitted in the sitemap settings:Rank math > Sitemap settings.

    2. Your pages/posts can be excluded if you have set them to no-index: Rankmath>Titles&Metas>Pages/Posts. You can also check specific pages for no-index tags.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
