WordPress should be able to automatically redirect the old permalink structure to your new one once you have changed it. Can you please confirm if this wasn’t the case on your end?

At the moment, we don’t support that kind of redirection. This may require you to make use of a different plugin that supports these types of redirection or you can do it in your .htaccess.
