How do I exclulde some images in a post from being indexed by Google?

    Hello,

    I am writing posts in my blog in which I want to exclude SOME of the images I use in those posts (not all) from being indexed by the search engines, I suppose that I need to set a nofollow meta tag to each Image.

    But I didn’t see any noindex setting in the Media Image Settings, except ‘exclude image from sitemap’. What would be the best approach to do this? Can I do this with Rank math or do I need to do it in other way, manually?

    For example, here is an image that I need excluded from one of my posts, and here is the blog post link for reference.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    The option to remove the image from sitemap is the same as setting the image to noindex. This is because the sitemap is what tells search engines the pages/post/attachments that you would like to be indexed.

    Thanks that’s good news, so just to make sure – the only thing I need to do is to select ‘exclude image from sitemap’? Don’t I also need to add a noindex meta tag under image – using the HTML editor?

    To ensure that all the images that don’t appear on the post content don’t get indexed, you should go further and set them to noindex.
