  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Upon accessing your website and creating a draft article to test the star ratings we can see that they are displayed correctly along with the other information from the Schema you have on your posts.

Please check the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

To achieve this we used the following shortcode after filling in the product information: [rank_math_rich_snippet]

In case you only want to show the star ratings you could use CSS to hide any other information being outputted by that shortcode.

Hope this helps solve your issue.

    Hello, Miguel.

Thank you very much for your help.

Now, is it possible to just display the star ratings themselves and not the rest of the information? And also, is it possible to let readers vote on my articles using star ratings? This is what I am trying to accomplish with this feature.

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us.

You can remove any other data by using custom CSS on your website and targeting any specific elements containing data that you don’t want to display.

As for the other question, the functionality of reviewing an article and giving it a rating is not something that should be done by an SEO plugin, we only take the data and turn it into structured markup to display that information on SERPs.

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

    Thanks again for the reply.

Regarding my second question, what you mean is that posts with the Article schema type shouldn’t be rated, correct? But when I said “article”, I was referring to a post with the Product schema type. That’s what I want my readers to rate, but it seems that Rank Math doesn’t provide this feature. Please let me know if I am wrong or missing something.

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We understood that you set the articles to have a Product Schema in order to be able to insert the rating Schema and be eligible for star ratings on SERPs, but we don’t have a review functionality on our plugin that would allow users to vote on any article, product or service.

That is not something that should be in an SEO plugin, that is more suited for a specific review plugin, we only extract that data and put it into the markup.

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Oh, I see! I didn’t know that.

So, review plugins that allow users to vote and that add star ratings on SERPs from those votes are then following bad practices? I would like to be clear about this.

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Let users vote on an article might not be a good practice, the reason being is that there’s not really a clearly identified product or service they are reviewing.

Say for instance that you are reviewing a product in one of your articles. In this case, it would be suitable for you to add your rating of the product in the Schema and that would be reflected in SERPs.

However, if you let your readers rate the article what exactly are they rating? The product in the article or the article itself?

If it’s the second that is against Google guidelines because you can’t add review snippets to articles.

So to summarize, it’s perfectly fine to write an article reviewing a product and add your rating to the article, but having the users rate that article is not good practice.

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Got it.

Thank you very much for your support; that helps a lot in clarifying this topic for me.

Just a suggestion: it would be useful to be able to customize the shortcut to display only what we need and to change its style/appearance.

    Hello,

Glad that helped. We appreciate your feedback and we’ll pass this along to the product team.

Please feel free to reach out to us again in case you need any other assistance.

    We are here to help.

    Thank you.
