    Hi there!

I’m so sorry to ask for help, but I don’t think I’m using the right terminology with the chatbot.

I searched my business name on Google to see what came up, and I noticed that under my website’s page names there’s a description there that doesn’t match what I entered. It seems to be pulling from alt text from images instead of what I’ve set the page excerpts to be. I can’t post a screenshot but I can copy what I’m seeing when I search “Aimee Lince Photography”

If you could please tell me where I can edit this specific text I’d really appreciate it. I have ADHD and I’m just getting lost in Google searches I don’t understand.

    Thanks so much in advance.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand your concern about the search results displaying different descriptions than what you have set for your website. It seems that Google is pulling information from the alt text of the images instead of the page excerpts.

To address this issue, you can try adding the focus keyword to the alt text naturally. This can help improve accessibility and increase the chances of ranking in image search. Here’s how you can add the alt text:

    1. If you are using the Gutenberg Editor, navigate to your post-editing screen, click on the image, and the ALT TEXT field will appear in the Block section on the right-hand side.

    Add ALT Text in Gutenberg

    1. If you are using the Classic Editor, navigate to your post-editing screen, click the image, and click on the Pen Icon to edit the image. Then type the Alt Text you want into the Image details of your image.

Add Alt Text in Classic Editor

By adding the focus keyword naturally to the alt text, you may see improvements in how Google displays your website in search results.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out to us again.

    Best regards.

    Hello!

For example, the snippet of my homepage is set to:

“Naturally beautiful wedding photography in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. I’m here to help you all the way to “I do” with support, guidance and pro-tips…”

It’s showing on Google search as:

“Naturally beautiful wedding photography in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. 路 Kind Words 路 Exciting news 路 Aimee is based in North East Lincolnshire but is happy to …”

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We checked your site on Google with the site: operator and we can see Google is showing the correct metadata on SERPs.

That means Google is already aware of the correct metadata of your website. Nowadays, Google does that very commonly. Even when everything is fine, Google may choose to display a different meta title and description for your search query result. Google may skip the custom metadata you have set and instead display something from the page鈥檚 content that better matches the search intent.

You can follow this URL for details on this issue:

Regarding the sitelinks, they are currently automated by Google, and there鈥檚 nothing we can do from our side to enable or modify those on any website. Here鈥檚 the documentation from Google that you can follow to learn more about it: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/sitelinks

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

Thank you so much for replying! I really appreciate it, I was so confused.

Maybe if I change the H2’s to styled paragraphs that may help.
