  • Hello,

Please try to make use of this filter and insert it into your theme’s functions.php:

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

This should completely disable Rank Math’s caching of sitemaps.

After doing so, submit your sitemap_index.xml to GSC once again.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Hi there

Thank you for the response, I have added that filter and still no luck. GSC returns couldnt fetch.

Strangely I am in the middle of launching a new site and I have recieved the same couldnt fetch from GSC. The new site is https://weloveshemales.com

re the above both sites the Sitemap is working on Bing Webmaster

    Hello,

I’ve checked your site, and it seems that you haven’t verified the non-HTTPS version of your website to be redirected to the HTTPS version.

    Version

Please ensure that only 1 version of the sitemap is working (200 Ok status), and the rest are redirecting to it.

You can follow the steps in this link to redirect your non-www version of your site:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#5-check-for-the-correct-version-of-the-sitemap

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

Thank you for the reply I have fixed that issue and followed all instructions in the above thread however both websites below the sitemap is reporting as couldn’t fetcg on GSC. They appear to be regonised by bing. I’m at a loss on where to turn now.

    Hello,

I checked the following sitemaps and they are functioning correctly:

    https://thebestwifeporn.com/sitemap_index.xml
    https://weloveshemales.com/sitemap_index.xml

Since Google is not detecting the above sitemaps you can try submitting the alternative URLs below:

    https://thebestwifeporn.com/?sitemap=1
    https://weloveshemales.com/?sitemap=1

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions, we are here to help.

    Hello,

I did some research and discovered a recent Google support forum thread about the same issue: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/136762905/sitemap-could-not-be-read-couldn-t-fetch-sitemap?hl=en

Based on the the above-linked thread, Google sitemap fetching may have a bug. You can test if your site is affected by the bug by testing the sitemap URL in search console.

    • Go to google search console and select the affected property: https://search.google.com/search-console
    • In the search bar, enter your sitemap URL
    • Next, click the ‘Test Live URL’ button
    • You can ignore the message that the “URL is not available to Google”. Check next to ‘Availability’ if the sitemap is ‘Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag’, this means Google fetched the sitemap and can see the contents of the sitemap.

If the above test shows that Google could fetch the sitemap, it means that your site is affected by the Google bug and there is nothing much that can be done about it until Google fixes the issue.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you have questions, we are here to help.

    Hi There

    Can you advise further?

    Hello,

All the settings related to your sitemap and robots.txt seem fine. Can you please share the error that you are getting under the General HTTP error while trying to submit your sitemaps?

Also, please share the login details of your GSC account so we can check this further.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I ran your website through the Google Rich Results test and found out the URL is not available to Google. https://search.google.com/test/rich-results/result?id=lrTJK-sgbVRd5SpzOSvMLQ

While your robots meta tags and robots.txt file look fine, there may be some other setting blocking your site from being crawled. Can you check with your host to see if there are any server side settings that might block Google crawls? Once the crawlability is fixed, the sitemap issue should go away.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I’ve spoken hosting company several times they assure me that everything fine from there end.

    Thank for for the replies

I have just used GSC robots.txt tester and

    thebestwifeporn.com doesn’t have a robot.txt file
    And
    Weloveshemalea.com has one but blank

All my other sites eg yogspantsporn-hd.com for example has one which references the site map.

Would recommend I change the robots.txt to reflect those of the working sites?

    Regards
    Pete

    Hello,

I can check that all your sites have the same robots.txt file with the reference to the sitemap. You can confirm that using the your-site-url/robots.txt. Since the settings seem fine and yet Google is not able to crawl the sites, it means that something from your server is blocking the access for Google.

Please show the screenshot shared by my colleague to your hosts and ask them to look into this.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks.

My host insist that they nothing from their site blocking the crawl of the site.

We added a TXT record for as additional verification of GSC in my DNS but still no joy.

    Hello,

I checked your sitemap, and it gave a 404 error, that could be the reason, why Googe is unable to fetch your sitemap. I’ve added the screenshots in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

To troubleshoot the issue, please follow the steps from our Knowledge Base article here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/sitemap-404-error/

Please let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you further.

    Thank you
