Although it is correct that Google will not penalize for having multiple H1 tags but it is still a best practice to include only a single H1 tag on your homepage.
SEO analyzer from these tools also says the same:

With that said, you can ignore this test if having more than H1 is needed for your website. Unfortunately, we don’t have plans on changing this test but we have taken note of your suggestion.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I find the responsiveness at Math Rank encouraging.
The issue for my site is that I don’t have control over the presence of extra H1 tag on my home page (i.e., the theme I use – DIVI Extra – adds a second H1 tag, so there’s not much I can do short of messing with their code which is not where I want to spend time ;).
No worries regarding not having plans to update the criteria on your SEO analyzer to remove the multi-H1 check.
