    Hi,

I am trying to index my site and on google search console inspect URL says the “noindex” tag in robots are blocking the indexing (in screenshot). In the Tiles and Meta settings Robots Meta is checked to Index (as you can see in the screenshot). How can I remove noindex tags from everywhere to get my website indexed.

    Thank You

  • Also in wordpress settings- Readings- discourage search engines from indexing this site is unchecked.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

A noindex robots meta tag is added to the sitemap on purpose. This is in line with Google’s guidelines and that is how sitemaps work.

Please submit your sitemap_index.xml file to Google Search Console so Google can see all URLs in your sitemap.

You need to have the discourage search engines from indexing this site unchecked if you want search engines to index your site.

I hope this resolves your issue.

    Hi Danial,
Thanks for the reply. Do I have to delete earlier submitted sitemaps from the google console or I can just add sitemaps every time?

    Hello,

To resubmit your sitemap, please remove all submitted sitemap URLs and resubmit only the main sitemap URL: /sitemap_index.xml.

The rest of the sitemaps are included and will get crawled through this.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I have resubmitted the sitemaps but only contact and faq page are valid, rest are showing blocked by “noindex” tag in robots. I am not able to find a way to change it to index and get the website indexed. Please advise on whats the solution here.

    Hello,

There are a few things you must check for in order to see why the posts aren’t getting indexed.

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Make sure the post is not selected as ‘noindex’ in WP > Posts > Your Post > Advanced Tab in Rank Math.
    Screenshot:

    Individual Post Advanced Tab

    2. Ensure that the noindex is not selected for Global or Posts meta:

    Noindex Settings

    3. Check the sitemap settings and check if the posts are setup to be included in the sitemaps:

    Post Settings

Please note that it is completely up to Google if they want to index or not index your website. So, if you haven’t willingly or accidentally made your posts noindex and Google still isn’t indexing your page – it means that either Google doesn’t want to index or hasn’t crawled your page yet because it hasn’t allocated that much crawl budget to your website.

Please check this website for more details.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
