Google Analytics 4

    Rank Math free

GA4 is now out of beta, and is the ONLY way I can set up a new property currently.

I know the Rank Math team said they would support GA4 once it was out of beta, so I was wondering how I use that now. Apparently it has been out of beta since October 2020.

I looked through the tickets and can see no up to date information. There is a post about changing a property into UA, but that isn’t an option in my GA account anymore.

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Although GA4 is out of the beta, their API is still in the early alpha stage and it was very recently announced in the first place.

We are sorry but we do not have any immediate plans of support GA4 until the API matures and reaches at least the RC stage. The reason is that the change in the alpha and beta are going to be pretty rapid and we do not want to break user websites due to changes made in Google’s API.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Hi, I’m here because I had the same problem, and though not ideal I was able to create a new universal property in Google Analytics to temporarily work around the problem. This is how I did it:

Go to Admin and select the account that has the GA4 property, the one that doesn’t show in your RankMath setup.

Select Create Property > Show Advanced Options > Create a Universal Analytics property (small slider button on right) > Create a Universal Analytics property only.

Make sure you add ‘Universal’ when you name it to differentiate from the GA4 property you might already have.

That’s it, you might need to get RankMath to reconnect to your GA account to refresh the data but this new option became available to me when I did this.

Does anyone know when universal analytics will be killed-off?

    Hello,

Thank you for outlining the steps here.

There is no definite set deadline for the shift to GA4.

It is actually recommendable to keep the old analytics for now if you already had data just in case Google puts together a decent migration. There’s no sense in permanently splitting up your data unless you have to.

    Hope this helps you.

Yes I should have mentioned the example I gave is for a new website that had no previous analytics setup.
