getting error messages from Mr. Google on my video schema

    Hello,

    i’m getting error messages via my use of the “video” schema under rank math. I think, most likely, that I’m missing some important step in the process!

    for example, under my most recent 8 posts, they all are getting the same error messages under the google search console:

    Error Missing field “thumbnailUrl”

    Failed
    8
    Error Missing field “name”

    Failed
    8
    Error Missing field “description”

    Failed
    8
    Error Missing field “uploadDate”
    Failed
    8

    this leads me to believe that i’m not filling out the video schema correctly. kindly lemme know what’s going on. thanks,

    2. Are you filling all the details needed in the Video Schema fields offered in Rank Math?

    ok, hi again: so for example in the 3rd url above. I have not under the rankmath schema listed the article as a video. Rather, it is selected as an “article”

    so when it was submitted to google, the results come back all valid..but, i get the errors cited in the above message.

    Because my article contains a video being embedded from youtube (mine); should, I change the rankmatch schema FROM article to Video for this? and would that resolve the error?

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    No this is not necessary if you don’t want the video snippet to be awarded to the article. I’ve however checked this now and the schema seems to be working as expected on the testing tool as shown below;

    thanks for the quick follow up.

    Now, if i want to use it as a video schema: what URL do i input into the embedUrl space?
    is it, the url to the youtube file
    OR is it the url to the webpage on my site?

    You can use the same URL as the Video URL as well as the Embed URL.
