I used the Rank Math setup wizard and got this message when trying to verify my site with Google.
Google verification process said, found this “v=spf1 …..” all the time.
It could not find this “google-site-verification= …code…”
Both files are there in the root folder.
Both have TTL of 14400.
The Rank Math error message is now gone. Thanks.
Google Site verification still failed to verify.

Bing is fine. I wonder why.

Please use a different method to verify your domain. I can suggest that you use the DNS record method as described on this page: https://support.google.com/a/answer/183895?hl=en

It then asked me to use HTML code to add the Meta tag to the Home page. I have not figured that out yet.
I will try the one on your link next. It says use TTL 86400.
By the way, how did these codes appear on my Home page and how to remove them if they are the culprits?

Okay. I got it verified. Apparently, setting the site to “coming soon” or “Maintainance” will hinder the Google Site Verification process.
