  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your question about using focus keywords more than once.

According to Rank Math’s guidelines, it is not recommended to use the same focus keyword more than once across different posts or pages. Using the same focus keyword on multiple posts can lead to difficulties in ranking both posts and can create content duplication issues.

If you have already used a focus keyword for a product page and now wish to use it for a standard page, we recommend choosing a different focus keyword for the standard page to ensure better optimization and avoid potential ranking conflicts.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to ask.

Human – what is the way around this/what is the solution?

    Hello,

Thank you for your query, and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Using the same focus keyword on multiple pages/posts/products can lead to keyword cannibalization, which might weaken your SEO efforts.

This happens because such pages/posts/products can compete against each other in search rankings, dilute link equity, and confuse both users and search engines about the most relevant pages/posts/products for a query.

To mitigate this, ensure each pages/posts/products targets a unique aspect of the topic or user intent, use variations of the keyword, consider merging similar content into a single authoritative pages/posts/products, and employ strategic internal linking and canonical tags when necessary.

Aim for unique, valuable content tailored to specific keywords for each pages/posts/products and monitor their performance to refine your SEO strategy.

Essentially, while repeating focus keywords across pages/posts/products is possible, it’s best to avoid it for optimal SEO outcomes.

We hope that helps, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
