Focus Keyword (Primary and Secondary)

    Rank Math free

I was reading your article about How To Score 100/10 With Rank Math. I was using Yoast before that. I got attracted towards Rank Math because it supports 5 Focus Keyword and I also know the importance that using fewer keywords are better.

My question is what if I want to rank for let say “PowerPoint Animation” and I have written several articles on how to make animation in PowerPoint which ultimately targets the Primary Keyword “PowerPoint Animation”. But as we know that using same Focus Keyword for many posts will not be a good idea as they can might compete which each other. What if we add them as a Secondary Keyword.

I create animations in PowerPoint like Bicycle Animation in PowerPoint Animation Tutorial, How To Make Walk Cycle in PowerPoint Animation Tutorial. So, what if mostly use “Bicycle Animation in PowerPoint” as Primary Focus Keyword and “PowerPoint Animation” as secondary. But that is to say that in future I am going to write 100s more posts about PowerPoint Animation. So, can I add a Secondary Focus Keyword “PowerPoint Animation” to all of them.

Another example could be that I have written 20 different articles on a single topic “Free YouTube Intro Templates”. Visitors can download and learn more about how to customize each template. So, what Focus Keyword I can use for all of the similar Template posts.

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Yes you can have a focus keyword of one post as a secondary keyword in another post to improve on uniqueness of each post optimization.

Optimizing multiple articles to the same focus keyword is very likely to have your posts marked for duplicate content. I’d recommend differentiating the articles using a focus keyword that is different for each article. Just as they are separate articles, there must be something that differentiates them, else you’d have them as a single article. Use the difference and unique topic of each article as your focus keyword and the general/common keyword as your secondary keyword.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
