Focus Keyword not found in image alt attribute in Elementor

    Rank Math free

Hello! I have submitted this same issue previously with another project, and still seems to be a problem with most projects.

I can definitely see the Alt text in the Page Source here https://soulworks.bantergroup.com.au/ yet I constantly get the “Focus Keyword not found in image alt attribute” message in Rank Math. The image has been inserted using the Elementor image widget, and I know you’ve said RankMath is compatible with Elementor.

I’ve purged cache as previously requested but no change. I’ve deactivated ALL plugins other than Elementor and RankMath and the problem still occurs.

I really need to get this sorted out – I can almost never get the scores into Green which doesn’t look great for the client.

The other problem I’m having is that I’m seeing a different score displaying on the WPAdmin pages menu, eg. https://pasteboard.co/J0DJtFl.png than I’m seeing on the individual page, eg. https://pasteboard.co/J0DJHxp.png Why would that be?

    Hoping you can help!

    Regards
    Melanie

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

1). The check for ALT tags only checks the images that have been added to the content editor at the moment and it will not check images loaded via modules such as the image or sidebar widgets.

2). Elementor displays shortcode content on the frontend and thus some tests do not fire. I can suggest that you rely on the page score reported on the backend.

Please note that the Rank Math scores is just a checklist to guide you on areas that you need to improve and you should not follow the tests religiously. There are a few cases when there will be false positives such as this when the ALT tag is set but not detected.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

OK, thanks for the update. Are you working on a way to have RankMath read Alt tags in image widgets? It was my understanding that RankMath is compatible with Elementor. If you’re using Elementor, there’s no way you are adding an image to a content widget!

Hoping this is pretty high on your list of priorities.

    Hi Melanie,

    Thanks for the reply.

It has just come to my attention that this was addressed in a past update and after testing, the keyword in Alt tag works on my end as shown below:
    Screenshot

Could you please ensure that you are using an exact match of the keyword on the alt text? All the images on your page source seem to have different Alt tags such as “Soulworks Therapies, Perth Hypnotherapy”

Let me know how this goes. Thank you.
