FAQ Schema

#885593
  • Hello, I’m trying to add FAQ Schema to my client’s website. The website is a Taxi Firm based in the UK in the NorthWest. They have a location page for a town called ‘Burnley’ and I would like to add FAQ Schema into this, so they come up on Google ‘Also asked’ FAQ section. Is this the correct thing I need to be adding?

If so, I’ve added a name and question as ‘How much are Taxis in Burnley?’, added the location page URL and put an answer in the answer box and saved it for this post.

Is this correct? Will this come up on Google? How do I get it to show up in Google when searching for specific terms in Google such as ‘Burnley Taxis’? I appreciate any help!

I’ve also watched some tutorials but still slightly confused.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with adding FAQ Schema to your client’s website. Yes, adding FAQ Schema is indeed the correct approach to enhance visibility in search results, particularly for a location page like the one for Burnley. By using the FAQ Schema, you can help your content become eligible to appear in Google’s "Also asked" section.

From what you’ve described, it sounds like you have correctly added the question "How much are Taxis in Burnley?" along with the answer and the location page URL. This is a good start!

To ensure that your FAQ Schema is properly implemented and recognized by Google, follow these steps:

    1. Use Rank Math’s FAQ Block: Make sure you are using the FAQ by Rank Math block in the Block Editor to add your FAQs. This will automatically include the necessary Schema markup.
      Add FAQ block
    2. Test Your Schema: After saving your changes, use the Google Rich Results Test to check if your FAQ Schema is correctly implemented and there are no errors.
Missing field mainEntity in Google Rich Results Test.
    3. Monitor Performance: Keep an eye on how your page performs in search results over time. It may take some time for Google to index your changes and display them in search results.

While implementing FAQ Schema can improve your chances of appearing in rich results, please note that Google ultimately decides when and how to display this information based on its algorithms.

    Hello,

You can use Google’s Rich Results Test tool to check if the schema is properly added or not.

However, please note that even if you add proper schema to your website, it is ultimately Google’s decision if they want to include this with your website or not and it mostly depends on the keyword search term.

    Here’s what Google says:

“Google does not guarantee that your structured data will show up in search results, even if your page is marked up correctly according to the Rich Results Test.”

You can read more about the guidelines from this URL:
    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/sd-policies

Also, last year Google announced the FAQ Schema would mainly work only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/08/howto-faq-changes

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
