Facebook Share Showing Wrong Picture

I’ve been trying to get the right Facebook image to appear when the home page (or any page) is shared on Facebook. There seems to be no <meta property> available for Facebook in the source code.

I’ve set-up a global image to be used using RankMath but it doesn’t seem to work.

The og:image given by FB debugger are incorrect expect for one (which doesn’t show up in the preview). I don’t know where to start. It used to work fine. Help would be appreciated.

    EDIT: getting this error:

    caution-solidWarnings That Should Be Fixed
    Inferred Property
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
    Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: og:image, fb:app_id

So, can I assume the image is not even being loaded properly?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I suspect that this issue has something to do with aggressive caching on your site. Could you please flush your site & server cache and let us know if the problem is still reproduced?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Hey Michael thanks for helping me. I scrapped again today and it seems fine. How can I see if this was a caching issue? I flushed the cash at the server level yesterday before I wrote my initial message but that didn’t seem to help. Or is this on Facebook’s side of things?

Just trying to understand so that it doesn’t happen again.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

I am glad that this is now resolved.
Facebook will save the data in its server cache but scrapping should refresh this but it may take a while as was your case.
I can also suggest that you checkout this tool that you can use to check the header response for your server https://onlinecurl.com/ and identify if the page is cached.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
