This usually happens if your server is taking a lot of time to process and respond to the requests. Here is an article to guide you on this. You can also increase page response time by using a caching plugin on your site.

Thanks for getting back to me, but I have a paid pro version cacheing plugin on my site. Is there anything else that could be causing this? Is this something my hosting company solves?

Please check or get in touch with your host to check the web server log to help you find where exactly is the cURL request failing. You should then check the website link and if it works, that means the problem happens due to server setting. Please check the article URL I shared in my previous reply.

This what my hosting company said….
It is definitely plugin related. Yes we use nginX. However if we temporarily disable your plugins the error goes away.
Please note there are no error logs relating to this request because something within the plugin is actually causing the curl block. The fact your plugin developer sent that link shows he isn’t sure how to fix it, so I’d suggest if you don’t need the plugin you remove it entirely.
