Facebook meta data not showing

Hi guys, I am having issues with my Facebook shares. Whenever I try to share a post to FB, the main site metadata appears, instead of the specific one that I write for each post. This is driving me nuts.

Can anyone please guide me towards what could be causing this?

    Thank you so much.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked the screenshot you have provided, and it seems that the Google preview is different. I’ve also tested your link in Facebook Debugger Tool, and it detected the og:title and og:description meta tags, which are present in your source code as well.

Could you confirm if you have already set up your Social preview in Rank Math?

You can check this link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/general-tab/#social-preview-section

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

Hi Reinelle, thank you for your quick response. I have indeed already checked the social preview, yet the issue remains (the only thing that differs is the picture that I select for the social preview – which works) However, the remaining information (title + metadata) continue wrong – meaning, the main one for the site instead of the one i have set for the post.

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

I’ve checked your site and the og:title is the same. Could you also provide a screenshot of the social preview you have already set? I’ve attached a screencast in the sensitive data section on how to check the meta title of your site.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hi Reinelle, I have uploaded the new screenshot. The description you see (“Popular self-care blog…”) is the metadata for the website, not for the specific post. Basically all my posts shared to Facebook have the same general metadata, as opposed to the one I have written for them (please see attached).

I have inserted the FB app ID and all, but my tech knowledge is limited and I have no idea what else i could do.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the follow-up.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Thank you, and we really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hi Reinelle, I can’t thank you enough for your patience and support. I have just entered the required information in the ‘sensitive data’ part. Please let me know if you have any issues.

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

I’ve checked your site, and it seems that one of your plugins or theme is generating the additional og:title for your meta tags. Please see the screencast in the sensitive Data section.

In this case, you would need to conduct a conflict test following the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Let us know how this goes.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hello,
