    Hello,
I keep getting a 403 error “Permission denied. Failed to verify the URL ownership.” With the new indexing API from Google. I tested everything even the Google search console ownership while i’m a Owner, I keep getting the error. How do i fix this?

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This error affects service accounts and not your general search console account. Please ensure that you are the owner of the service account and that you verify the URL ownership of the root and domain URL like so:

    example:
    – domain.com & https://example.com/, or
    – domain.com & https://www.example.com/

    IMG

On the next page, add the service account as an owner with the button:
    IMG

I hope this info helps. Thank you.

@Micheal, but google insists the email must be a gmail address.

That is where I’m stucked, how do we do that?

I guess you made a mistake somewhere along the line on API console.. I made this for 2 sites within an hour with no error

    Hi Nabom,

    Thanks for the follow up.

Please create a new email address and set this user as a property owner and then perform the steps again.
If the issue persists, please add my email address as a property owner on your GSC so that I can investigate this issue further.

I am looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

Hi there. I am getting the same error, I am verified owner and i added that service accound(that email looking) as owner but still i am getting error. Please help me.

OMG! I just figured that out…..I added “www” to my site in ‘Indexing API Console’ and then pressed on ‘SEND TO API’ button and it showed success without any error.

    1) What i was doing:-
I was writing http://domain.com and was getting error-> “Permission denied. Failed to verify ownership”.

    2) What i did now:-
I wrote http://www.domain.com and it showed succes.

Conclusion-> Just add the same URL that you have in google search console dashboard.

    Thanks! Hope it helps others.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I am glad that this is now resolved 🙂 You need to ensure that you verify your site URL and root domain, please make use of the old webmaster tools to add as owner as well.

Feel free to write to us for any other issues. Thank you.
