    Hi

I submitted my sitemap to Google yesterday.
I’ve noticed in Search Console that only 1 page is indexed with 159 excluded.
The message is ‘Discovered – currently not indexed. Status: Excluded’

As I’ve only just submitted I understand the ‘currently not indexed’ but I’m worried by the ‘Status: Excluded’

I used the defaults when setting up Rank Math and the general ‘discourage’ setting isn’t checked.

    Thanks
    Andy

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This might not necessarily be an error, could you please share a few of the affected links on the sensitive data section so that we can check this further?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Thanks. Yes, when I inspect these individually in search console they sometimes show not indexed and sometimes submitted and indexed.

It’s the ‘Status: Excluded’ text that worried me.

    Thanks again

    Hello,

Excluded can be due to several reasons like duplicated content on even sections where Googlebots are not allowed to crawl (due to robots.txt configuration). You can read more about it here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en

    Looking forward to help you.

    Hi
I’ve checked individual page rank math settings and pages are indexable.
If I inspect an individual page in search console it says it’s available and can be indexed.
However, when I visit sitemaps in search console 161 pages are excluded with only 1 valid. These include pages that aren’t in sections/categories but top-level pages.
I checked for a robot.txt file in the root and can’t see one present.
I’ve looked in the pages sitemap https://themidlifehub.com/page-sitemap.xml and there are 48 pages listed here.
    I’m a bit perplexed!

    Thanks
    Andy

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hi
I checked again this morning and now I have 90 valid and 75 excluded.
As it’s a recent site it might just have needed some time and is still indexing.
The search console status ‘Discovered – currently not indexed. Status: Excluded’ probably isn’t very helpful.

I’ll check again in a few days to see if the currently excluded pages also get indexed.

    Thanks
    Andy
