    Hi Guys,

I am resurrecting a website of mine and changing it.

I have about 200 posts that ARE indexed in Google…some of them get impressions but none of them really get NO traffic.

I need to know the best way to deal with them (I do NOT want them):

    1. Should I simply delete them?
    2. Should I 410 all the pages?
    3. Should I redirect them?

I really don’t want to redirect them…unless you think there is SEO value in it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I intend to change the permalink structure so I need to decide this…otherwise when I change the permalinks they will all 404.

    Ken

    Hello,

Thank you for choosing Rank Math. Let me assist you with your concern.

Deleting pages will give you a 404 error, and It should not happen in any case; however, Rank Math will take care of it. You have to enable the redirection module. I would suggest you do 410 because it will tell google or any other search engine that the target resource is no longer available at the origin server. This condition is likely to be permanent.

Rank Math will also take care of permalink changes. You can enable the automatic redirection option by heading over to Rank Math > General Settings > Redirections > Auto-post redirect.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you require any further assistance.

    Hi Ankit,

So to be clear, on the auto post redirect, when I change the permalink structure, all those post with AUTOMATICALLY be redirected?

So Rank Math will create a new URL? What would the URL be?

And thank you for your help!

    Ken

    Hello,
When you change the permalink structure, you just need to add a condition inside the Rank Math redirection module.

Set it up like this at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Redirections > Add New

    Source: /category-name/(.*)$
    Choose regex from the dropdown
    Destination URL: https://domain.com/$1
    Redirection Type: 301
    Status: Activate

I hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
